Class Humanity

s

Class Humanity have enjoyed an action packed first term, whilst getting to know each other at the same time. We’ve had leaders displaying their fantastic skills, embraced public speaking opportunities and gotten highly involved in special events including Harmony Day, Jersey Day and the Twilight Swimming Carnival. The term ‘humanity’ refers to the entire human race, everyone on Earth. In Class Humanity, we are dedicated to further developing the qualities that make us wonderful people. These qualities include the ability to love, show compassion, act with integrity and spread kindness.

Some Humanity students have summarised their Term 1 experiences so far...

The first term is coming to a close, and in Class Humanity a lot has happened, let me recap. In week eight, year five started their NAPLAN which ended on Tuesday of week nine, it was a long but peaceful week and we celebrated when it was finished. We have completed mountains of art including a world paper chipping artwork a bit of painting (we tried to avoid a mess but . . . it is paint) and a goal setting mandala. We are led by the wonderful and chocolate loving Mrs. Hiser-Smith who encourages us to do our best and recognises when we experience success. We enjoy basketball nearly as much as she does. Overall, we have had a wonderful start to the year and there is loads more to come!

In Class Humanity, we have been doing a bunch of work and participating in some events like Clean Up Australia Day in-between. We have set some challenging learning goals that we hope to achieve before the year is done. We have been working on building confidence skills by delivering speeches on different topics and participating in heaps of teamwork tasks.

Class Humanity is a class made up of year five and six students. We do a lot of reading, writing, maths and art. We have been enjoying learning netball this term but extreme weather has interrupted many fitness and sport sessions. I’m still finding plenty of footy time though. Humanity just finished Student Council speeches and found it hard to pick just two! Mrs. Hiser-Smith allowed us the honour of paper chipping (it was all my idea). Class Humanity is evolving, there is still so much to learn. Mrs. Hiser-Smith has made learning fun. Thanks for reading our class update from Class Humanity .

In Class Humanity, we’ve been learning how to write TEEEL paragraphs and deliver informative, persuasive and entertaining speeches. We have also learned about the facts of Humanity and what Humanity means to you and me. In Humanity we have a lot of fun playing maths games, doing our work and being amazing humanitarians!
